Case Summary

The NC Court of Appeals has granted a motion to allow NCICL to file an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in a case involving an unconstitutional monopoly.  A law passed in 2012 made the NC Bail Agents Association the sole authorized provider of continuing education for bail bondsmen in the state, which made it illegal for its main competitor, the plaintiff in this case, to operate its business.  NCICL filed its amicus brief opposing the creation of this monopoly on June 17.
